A Day in My Life (Danielle Orlowski): Crafting the Hala Tree Coffee Experience

A Day in My Life (Danielle Orlowski): Crafting the Hala Tree Coffee Experience

Posted by Danielle Orlowski on Apr 8th 2025

Aloha! I’m Danielle Orlowski, co-owner of Hala Tree Coffee. Every day at the farm is filled with creativity, precision, and a deep love for coffee. From quality control to designing the brand’s look and feel, I make sure every part of the Hala Tree experience reflects the care and passion we pour into every cup. Here’s a look at a typical day in my life.

7:00 AM – Coffee First, Always

Like any great morning, mine starts with a fresh cup of Hala Tree Coffee. But my first sip is more than just a wake-up call—it’s a moment of quality control. As a certified Q Grader, I carefully assess the flavor, aroma, and balance of our coffee. This ensures every batch meets our high standards before it reaches our customers. There’s something incredibly rewarding about knowing that the same coffee I’m enjoying will soon be in the hands of coffee lovers around the world.

8:00 AM – Training & Tour Prep

Coffee is more than just a drink—it’s a story. I work closely with our tour guides to help them share the journey of our beans, from farm to cup. Every visitor should leave with a deeper appreciation for Kona coffee and the passion behind it. Watching guests experience the farm, sip our coffee, and learn about what makes it so special is one of the most fulfilling parts of my job.

10:30 AM – Keeping Things Running Smoothly

While tours are in full swing, I shift my focus to making sure our shop and shipping operations are running seamlessly. I check inventory, ensure that orders are packed with care, and keep everything organized. Whether a customer visits our farm or orders online, I want them to have the same high-quality experience.

12:30 PM – Jumping In Where Needed

Some days, orders pile up, and I jump in to help get them packed and shipped on time. If a large group of visitors is arriving, I make sure everything is set up to create a smooth and welcoming experience. I love being involved in different areas of the business, making sure no detail is overlooked.

3:00 PM – Designing the Hala Tree Coffee Brand

One of my favorite parts of my job is bringing the Hala Tree Coffee experience to life visually. I design our coffee bags, refine the aesthetic of our visitor center, and ensure our branding reflects the quality of our coffee. My background in interior design helps me create spaces and packaging that feel just as special as the coffee inside. Every design choice—whether it’s the colors, textures, or overall atmosphere—is intentional and tells the story of our farm.

5:00 PM – Wrapping Up & Looking Ahead

Before I call it a day, I check in on orders, review upcoming projects, and make sure everything is ready for tomorrow. There’s always something new to refine—whether it’s improving the guest experience, designing fresh packaging, or thinking about the next creative idea to bring to life.

More Than Just Coffee

Hala Tree Coffee is more than just a farm—it’s an experience. Every sip of our coffee carries the care, dedication, and passion that go into every step of the process. Whether I’m perfecting a roast, training our team, or crafting the brand’s look and feel, I love knowing that my work helps create something truly special.

Mahalo for being part of our journey! Whether you’re visiting us on the farm or enjoying our coffee from home, I hope you feel the heart and soul we pour into every cup.
